Build the walled base
Lay four floor squares in a 2 by 2 and stand the eight outside walls, leaving the inside open as a yard.

The trick
Build the tall tower on one whole corner square of the base, never the middle. Only a corner lines up edge to edge with the wall below, so the tower locks onto the yard instead of floating over a seam.

Step by step
1. Build the walled base
Lay four floor squares in a 2 by 2 and stand the eight outside walls, leaving the inside open as a yard.
2. Raise the corner tower
On one corner square, build a two-level box that climbs above the wall.
3. Open the lookout
Cap the tower with a deck, then stand three low walls as a railing and leave one side open to see out.
