Lay the base
Lay four squares flat in a 2 by 2 to make a wide floor.

The trick
Cap the whole square top with flat tiles first, then stand short walls on every second edge so each one grips the lid it sits on. Those gaps between them are the crenels a castle top needs.

Step by step
1. Lay the base
Lay four squares flat in a 2 by 2 to make a wide floor.
2. Wall it in, leave a door
Stand walls around the whole edge, but leave one front wall off for the door.
3. Add a second storey
Stand a full ring of walls on top of the first to make the keep tall.
4. Cap the top
Lay four squares flat across the top so the whole keep is closed over.
5. Add the battlements
Stand a short wall on every second top edge, leaving a gap between each.
