The trick
The round disc body is a plus of five squares with its four inside corners filled by right triangles, which turns the cross into an eight-sided disc. The tall top and bottom fins are isosceles triangles, taller than they are wide, each based on the outer edge of the disc.
What you will need
- 5 square tiles
- 4 right-angle triangle tiles
- 2 tall triangle tiles
- 2 triangle tiles
Step by step
1. Build the body
Lay one square, then one on each of its four sides, to make a plus shape for the middle of the fish.
2. Round the body
Fit a right triangle into each of the four inside corners of the plus so the body fills out into a disc.
3. Sweep the fins
Stand a tall triangle on the top edge of the body and another on the bottom edge, points reaching out, for the big fins.
4. Tail and mouth
Add a triangle to the back edge for the tail and a small triangle to the front edge for the pointed mouth.
