Each point is two right triangles that share their straight inside edge, so the two sloped sides meet in one sharp tip instead of a blunt stump.

Step by step
1. Lay the middle
Lay four squares in a 2 by 2 block; this is the heart of the star.
2. Point up and down
Above the block set two triangles that lean together into a point, then do the same below.
3. Point left and right
Make the same two-triangle point out to the left and out to the right.
